Vilnius National Selection Conference is over, and it was my first EYP session outside Finland. I was a delegate in EMPL, the committee on employment and social affairs.
First time abroad
Going to a session in another country is a different feeling. New city, new people, and you don't know anyone at the start. In Finland I knew at least a few faces. In Vilnius I started from zero. But that didn't last long.
The comeback of EYP Lithuania
This session was also the comeback session of EYP Lithuania. You could really see the work the organisers put in. Everything was very well organised, from the schedule to the venues.
I really hope they keep this speed. After a big comeback it's easy to think "we did it" and slow down. I hope they don't. They have good momentum now and it would be a shame to lose it.
My committee
My committee was great. We worked well together and our resolution passed. But General Assembly was hard. Other committees asked tough questions and we had to defend every part of our text. It was tiring, but that's also what makes GA good. The GA venue was beautiful too, which helped.
The people
The best part was the people. There were a lot of people from many different countries and I met so many of them. Every break was a conversation with someone new. That's the thing I like most about EYP abroad. You come for the committee work, but you leave with friends from places you've never been.
Doing EYP abroad for the first time felt different, in a good way. I will remember Vilnius for a long time.
